History

PGEO Group's first project was a soybean extraction plant in Pasir Gudang back in 1980, followed by its first refining plant in 1981. With hard work and a strong commitment, it commenced its first consumer packing plant in Pasir Gudang in 1986 and started venturing into other downstream activities with the construction of a fractionation plant in 1987 and a steel drum manufacturing plant in 1988.

In late 1980s, PGEO Group started expanding its presence nationwide with the acquisition of Sandakan Edible Oils in Sabah and PGEO Edible Oils Sdn Bhd (Prai Division). The 1990s was a busy era for PGEO Group with the establishment of its first refinery in Sarawak, Bintulu Edible Oils Sdn. Bhd, and followed by a joint venture company, Lahad Datu Edible Oils in Sabah. In the late 1990s, PGEO Group expanded further by starting specialty fats production in Pasir Gudang and commencing a new refinery in Lumut Perak followed by a joint venture company with Volac Ltd for the production of calcium salts for animal feed ingredients in Pasir Gudang.

2007 was an important development milestone year for PGEO Group when the merger with Wilmar International Limited took place. Since then, PGEO Group expanded rapidly from the acquisition of oleochemicals companies (Natural Oleo Chemicals, Natural Soaps, Natural Wax and Dubois Natural Esters) to PGEO Oil Mills, Wilmar Tank Terminals, Nexsol Malaysia, Wilmar Fertilizer Malaysia, Wilmar Greenfarm Food Industries, Wilmar Kuantan Edible Oils and Kuching Palm Oil industries to the latest establishment of Wilmar Palm Products, a palm oil refinery and specialty fats complex in Port Klang and acquisition of Global Eco Chemicals Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Tanjung Langsat - all happening in a span of about 14 years. PGEO Group has the largest refining capacities in Malaysia today.
